“While the French Opera closes and the Italian Opera leaves temporarily, two German opera ensembles will have their turn. One will perform at the German Stadttheater opening next Friday. Besides many of the former Grover ensemble members, Mrs. Seelig and the baritone Pollack will be part of the ensemble. A highlight will be the tenor Habelmann with his charming voice. Lighter works of Flotow and Lortzing, but also operas of Mozart and Weber will be in the repertoire. Since there hasn’t been a German opera here in quite some time, we hope there will be much support from the German audience to make this institution a permanent one.”
