"…That Mr. William J. Hill is a favorite tenor in the metropolis is an indisputed fact, judged from the large attendance at his annual concert at Irving Hall last night; and that, too, in face of the rain storm outside.  He was assisted by Miss Beebe, an excellent soprano; Miss Nettie Sterling, one of our most telling contralto voices, if not the most artistic, and Messrs. Strini, Abella and Wehli.  The programme was carefully selected and sufficiently diversified. The bénéficiaire sang splendidly, and was received with enthusiasm.”
