"At the Sunday concert, given to-morrow evening at Steinway Hall, Madame Parepa, Carl Rosa and Mr. S. B. Mills will give some of their best selections. Mr. Thomas, with his orchestra, will assist, as usual."
“The twenty-third grand Sunday concert at Steinway Hall last night was crowded to excess—a striking proof of Mr. Harrison’s admirable management. The programme comprised the overture to Fidelio, Midsummer Night’s fantasie, Night in Granada overture, and the Turkish march for the orchestra, The Storm, Miserere Domine, by Hullah; Gounod’s Ave Maria, and the Children’s Kingdom, by Blumenthal, for the soprano, and some excellent selections for the piano and violin, played by Mills and Rosa. The Ave Maria was the chief feature of the concert, and was sung in a style such as no other artist in the metropolis could essay. It was a rare treat in the concert room, and was received with a perfect storm of applause.”
