“The Olympic theatre was crowded last night on the occasion of Miss Caroline Richings’ benefit.  The large and fashionable audience present was not alone a just tribute to the ability of Miss Richings, but it was a grateful acknowledgement of her successful and earnest efforts to establish English opera in this city.  Balfe’s threadbare but still popular opera, The Bohemian Girl, was performed in a manner that fully sustained the high reputation of the Richings troupe.”
