The house was barely filled. The opera was satisfactorily performed. The new cast was no improvement.

The German opera is closing at the Stadttheater. The last performances were no longer economical. Now the ensemble will try its luck in Boston. We wish them luck. The end of the season at the Stadttheater is drawing near, and the audience is already uncomfortable in the poorly-ventilated theater. (…)

The theater was not well attended which was unfortunate, since the performance deserved it. It benefitted from Rooter’s “Alice” in contrast to the last time (the opera was performed). This performance is said to be the last of this season of the German opera. Next week the ensemble will go to Boston.

The German opera performances at the Stadttheater have ended. They will not go to Boston as planned. The management of the Stadttheater has not been supportive of the German opera.
