PEOPLE NOTE: Carreño. “TO THE PUBLIC – The astonishing performances of Miss Teresa Carreno, the child pianist, has caused many persons to doubt her age. Consequently, the management has thought it proper to give publicity to the following certificate from the Consul of Venezuela at New York: -- TRANSLATION. I, Simon Camacho, Consul of Venezuela of New York, do hereby certify that, by the request of Mr. Manuel A. Carreno, I have examined the certificate of birth of his daughter, Miss Teresa Carreno, duly authenticated by the proper authorities of Venezuela and by the consul for the United States at La Guayra, and that according to the said certificates, Miss Carreno was born on the 22nd day of December 1853, being now eight years, eleven months and thirteen days old.”
