“Unlike most phenomenal children, Teresa’s mental and musical faculties have not been developed at the expense of her physical. She is a healthy and vigorous specimen of childhood, full of frolic and vivacity, excessively fond of dolls and playthings.”

“Academy of Music.--Little Teresa Carreno's last concert at the Academy of Music was a complete success. The house has hardly presented so gay an appearance since the gala days of Piccolomini.  It was completely filled. We have nothing to add to our previous remarks concerning this extraordinary child, who was congratulated by so large aparty on her birthday, and with so much heartiness. Mme. D’Angri sang with immense spirit and effect, and was warmly applauded.  It is a pity that we cannot hear this lady frequently on these boards. An encore was conceded to the very general request for more; a compliment which was also paid to Messrs. Campbell and Castle in their duet. Messrs. Theodore Thomas, F. Eben and Abella assisted with their usual skill.”

Review: New-York Daily Tribune, 29 December 1862, 8.

"The musical statement for the week is slim owing to the absence of opera. The concert of Teresa Careño [sic] the remarkable child pianist was brilliantly attended at the Academy. It is a bad place for the piano, and worse when handled with little fingers. Madame D'Angri sang with spirit and was encored."
