“A vocal and instrumental entertainment, for the benefit of Miss Emily Perine, whose father was killed while bearing the colors of his regiment in an assault on a Rebel fort at the battle of Williamsburg, will be given at Clinton Hall, in Astor-place, near Broadway, on Monday evening next. Miss Mina Geary, Mr. Gustavus Geary, Frank Leslie, and other noted artists, will appear. Mr. Dressler will preside at the piano. The interest of the concert will be enhanced by the appearance of the celebrated Dobson brothers, whose performances on the banjo have given them a world wide reputation.”

“It will be remembered that Sergt. Perine greatly distinguished himself at the battle of Williamsburg, by being the first to enter Fort Magruder, pull down the rebel flag, and hoisting the Stars and Stripes amid a shower of shot and shell—he lost his life in defense of his country.”
