Review: New York Herald, 27 July 1867, 5.

“The new hall of this popular troupe was thrown open last night to a select circle who had been invited to participate in the inaugural ceremonies preparatory to the public opening on next Monday night. It is located at the intersection of Twenty-third street and Broadway, and is destined to become one of the popular places of amusement in this city. So far as regards ventilation and accommodations the hall will be inferior to none, and the great aim of the managers, Messrs. Griffin & Christy, will be to furnish an entertainment worthy of the patronage which their popularity and the favor with which they have ever been received, warrant them in expecting from the New York public.”
