"Academy of Music.--‘Rigoletto’ Verdi’s chef d’oeuvre was given for the last time last night before an audience of medium dimensions. We have spoken so often before of the magnificent rendering of the rôle of Gilda by La Grange that it is only necessary here to confirm our previously expressed opinion. Orlandini was in the very best part, for there is no character which he invests with more passion and startling reality than that of the wronged father and unhappy court jester. Massimiliani and Miss Phillips are ever acceptable as the Duke and Maddalena.”
