“Steinway Hall.—The concert given at this hall last night in aid of the House of the Good Shepherd proved to be a decided success. The hall was filled in every part by an audience easily pleased and easily displeased, but withal good natured and charitable. The vocal part of the programme was filled by Misses Kate McDonald and Antonia Henne and Messrs. J. R. Thomas and George Simpson, and the instrumental part by Messrs. G. W. Morgan, Marzo and Albano. The reputation of the artists engaged is such as to warrant a proper rendition of the parts assigned to them. To the young men who had labored so assiduously to bring the affair to a successful issue a word of advice would not be amiss. They should not while the performances are in progress continually promenade the aisles, annoying the audience and obstructing the view of many, and, above all, they should allow some others than themselves to start the applause and encores. The institution for which the concert was given will, no doubt, be greatly benefited by the proceeds of the entertainment, and the good sisters and their friends generally will thank those who originated and assisted at the concert of last evening.”
