"The popular ‘Bohemian Girl’ was given by the Richings company last evening in a manner that deserves great praise. The orchestra, which for some time past, has been a little too pronounced in its accompaniment, was well directed, and interpreted the pleasant music of the opera with skill and effect. The artists were all in good voice, the house was large and fashionable, and the opera was emphatically a success. The most of the favorite airs were encored, which mark of approbation was also extended to the celebrated chorus and dance of the gypsies in the second act. This opera is one of the best that the Richings company give, and judging from its success last evening, an early repetition would meet with public favor.”
