“Mass will be performed at St. Stephen’s Church in East Twenty-eighth street at 4 ½ o’clock A.M., and a solemn high mass at 10 ½. The Rev. Dr. McGlynn will officiate, assisted by the Rev. Father Duncan, the deacon and sub-deacon. The church is decorated with evergreens and natural flowers, principally about the altar; and a full-length figure of the crucified Saviour has been erected so as to be in view of all the congregation. A new composition by the musical director, Professor Wm. Berge, will be sung for the first time. The solos will be rendered by Mme. De Lusan, Mrs. Berge, Mme. Anschutz, Miss Smith, and Signors Tamaro and Coletti.   The instrumental music will be by Theodore Thomas’s orchestra of forty musicians.”
