“The second performance of the Richings opera troupe at the Grand Opera House was another felicitous success. The vast house was crowded to excess by an audience evidently predisposed to enthusiasm. The opera was Auber’s ‘Crown Diamonds,’ in which Miss Richings is always pleasing and effective, and which on this occasion introduced Mr. Henry Haigh, a tenor of vigor and vivacity, and sure to win a rapid popularity.”

Review: New-York Times, 18 November 1869, 5.

“The performances of the Richings opera troupe at the Grand Opera House continue, with very satisfactory results. . . .’The Crown Diamonds’ was noticeable as the means of introduction of a new tenor, Mr. HENRY HAIGH, as to whose merits, however, we should prefer to postpone a decision.”
