“The programme presented by Tony Pastor at his Opera House the past week was replete with novel acts, and those who appeared met with a good reception. The Freeman Sisters were successful in their act, in which they gave a whistling solo which is quite a novelty; also banjo solo, singing, etc., making a change of costume in the most rapid manner. They also gave a delightful rendering of the ballad of ‘Driven from Home,’ which the sisters illustrated in such a feeling manner as to receive hearty applause. Louise, the drummer girl, gave her excellent solo on the snare drum, while Leopold, the gymnast, from London, did a graceful performance on the horizontal bar. Frank Kerns and J. W. McAndrews had the Ethiopian business to themselves, as Nelse Seymour did not appear, having met with an accident at rehearsal on the 17th instant, and he was confined to his room all the week.”
