“The first popular concert of the Euterpe Society took place yesterday afternoon at Association Hall, and was a genuine artistic success. Miss Brainard, Miss Sterling, Mr. Wehli (who came from the Union League) and other artists, with a grand chorus and orchestra, rendered a very attractive programme, consisting of selections from Rossini, Abt, Otto, Nicolai, Strauss and Steinhagen. Mr. John P. Morgan was the conductor, and a very efficient one too. To his exertions the flourishing of Euterpe is due.”
