“A crowded house, fully up to the standard of the season, abundant applause and an eminently satisfactory rendition of the two principal rôles on the part of the prima donna and tenor marked the final representation of ‘Faust’ at the Academy last night. Nilsson’s Marguerite and Capoul’s Faust will be long remembered with pleasure by our opera-goers, and Miss Cary’s Siebel and Jamet’s Mephisto are very enjoyable performances. The chorus does not call for any special comment as praiseworthy, and the mise en scene and appointments were, as before, unworthy of an opera house.”
