“The Academy of Music was crowded to excess last night on occasion of the last performance of Ambroise Thomas’ ‘Mignon,’ the role of which was created in this city by Mlle. Nilsson. It seems as if immediately before the Swedish Nightingale closes her season the enthusiasm of the metropolitan public is on the increase, and certainly last night she and Capoul were the recipients of the highest honors ever paid to artists. Jamet made a thorough success as before in the character of Lothario, and the trio in the last act of the artists just named was a magnificent performance.”
