Review: New York Clipper, 31 May 1873, 70.

“There were twelve people in the first part, S. S. Purdy being on the tambo, J. Niles on the bone end, and Cool White the interlocutor. The instruments consisted of a harp, two violins, cornet and double bass. The quartet failed to give satisfaction, and the witticisms were very ancient. Signor Raffaelle Abecco, who made his first appearance since his tour around the world, sang with excellent effect, ‘Vive l’America.’ His fine tenor voice has lost none of its power or purity of tone, and his harp-playing was fully up to the standard of former days.”
