“A very pleasant concert, tendered to Mr. Meigs, the basso of the Church of the Messiah, by the trustees of the church and other friends, was listened to last evening by an audience which about half filled the church. Many of our well-known local artists, who had volunteered their services, interpreted a programme of light and agreeable music. The audience indulged freely in encores, and the artists were very obliging, and thus a programme long enough in the first place was lengthened out to a degree very suggestive of curtain lectures to any musical Benedict who, straying alone from the fold to enjoy the concert, recklessly remained until its close.”
