“…The Fieldings, for instance, who made their first appearance since their return from Europe, made the mistake of introducing a burlesque temperance lecture in their act, to the detriment of their own performance and the enjoyment of the audience. Their musical specialities are so charming that it is to be regretted they marred their performance last night with anything so threadbare, and we would suggest that the lecture be omitted hereafter, as it is far below the general merits of the bill and inferior to the rest of their own acts. Aside from this single shortcoming there was nothing to be objected to and the entertainment was in every way delicious. Miss Alice Harrison made a happy success in what is called her ‘Olympic song,’ a very difficult undertaking, since it consists of imitations of Mr. Russell, Gus Williams and Miss Emma Day, all Olympic favorites, whose characteristics an Olympic audience will not allow to be clumsily copied…”
