“The last night of the season . . . was one of exceeding brilliancy. The house was crowded, the applause was continuous and genuine, and the artists were all in good voice and spirits; and therefore, we need not say, sang well. The splendid scenic effects of the opera were as fresh as ever. The grand septette in the council chamber scene was, of course, encored, and justly, for it was sang [sic] admirably.

“[A] work which has become a favorite, and which was well rendered on the occasion. We have spoken so frequently of its merits that it is needless to add anything now, except that all the artists were in good voice.”
