Review: New-York Times, 03 December 1864, 4.

Short review.  “‘Don Sebastian’ improves rapidly in public estimation. The performance last evening was the warmest in point of applause we have yet attended, and it was decidedly the best in every artistic sense.  Signor Massimiliani was in excellent voice, and sang his romanza—which it must be remembered ranges up to C—with great great [sic] power and sweetness.  Signor Bellini, too, was in thorough trim.  Madame Zuechi [sic] sang—as she always does—like a true artist.  The entire opera went smoothly and well.”

Review: Courrier des États-Unis, 12 December 1864.

"... Mme Carozzi-Zucchi showed herself superior on Friday to what she had already been [in Don Sébastien]. She owes her success to the execution of the beautiful septet in the fourth act.”
