“Martha has always been a favorite opera with our public; the action is so sprightly, and the music so full of melody and so clever in its concerted pieces, that it never tires upon the ear.”

The ever popular opera of Martha was given last evening, the seventh subscription night, to a very large and brilliant audience, considering the most wretched state of the weather. The performance was satisfactory throughout, Miss Kellogg and Miss Phillips rendering the two saucily piquant ladies with grace and spirit and great vocal excellence, Irfre singing his music with impassioned tenderness, and Antonucci throwing a large amount of humor and spirit in his role.”
