“Handel’s sublime oratorio of Samson was given at Steinway Hall last night for the last time. The boys mustered in full strength, and, as before, Dr. Cutler attended to the organ, Mr. Colby to the grand piano, and Mr. George Morgan, although suffering from severe indisposition, wielded the bâton with his accustomed skill.”

The chorus performed with fervor and precision; the soloists did very well also. The baritone sang with a beautiful voice; so did the young boys in the chorus. The organ player proved to be a master in his field. The lack of echo in the hall benefited the sound quality immensely.
