“The Richings English Opera troupe closed the second week of their engagement yesterday without the slightest diminution of the extraordinary success which has attended their present season at the Olympic Theatre since the first night. They gave the Daughter of the Regiment at the matinée and the Bohemian Girl in the evening. Both operas were well attended, and in general better rendered than on preceding occasions. Miss Richings deserves the highest praise for her untiring and successful exertions to establish English opera here, and the public have responded favorably by crowding a house which before was remarkable only for the smallness of the audiences.  There is nothing surely that is so consonant with the tastes of the American public as light, sparkling opera in their own language, when give, but such competent artists as may be found in the Richings troupe.”
