"Sonnambula drew another large audience last night to the Olympic theatre. The principal rôles were sustained by Miss Richings, whose Amina is an earnest, truthful and admirable impersonation of a lovely innocent girl; Miss Arnold, a coquettish, spiteful and jealous Lisa; Mrs. Boudinot, a matronly Teresa; Campbell. A dignified, soldierly Count; Castle, an impetuous, blindly jealous Elvino, and Arnold, a rather exaggerated, clownish Alessio. Miss Richings threw passion and feeling into the last scene on the bridge, and her admirable management of the voice betrayed the thorough artist. One of the altos in the chorus was disagreeably prominent, and marred the general effect. It was particularly noticeable in the piano passages of the concerted pieces."
