“…The concert of ‘ovation’ at the Academy of Music last night, in aid of the distressed families of Masons in the South, was a complete success.  It was expected and announced that the President and Mr. Seward would be present, but these dignitaries did not put in an appearance.  With this exception the programme was fully carried out. The band of the 71st regiment filled the orchestra and gave some excellent selections.  Of the artistes Signor Marra, Miss Amalia, M. Hauck, and Signor Bellini, who sang on this occasion it is necessary to say but little, their talent being known and appreciated, and last night won great applause.”
