English Opera at the Théâtre Français is proving a grand success. Crowded houses have been the rule during the entire week, and the operas as a general thing have been exceedingly well given. To-night ‘The Bohemian Girl’ will be given, on Tuesday ‘Sonnambula,’ Wednesday ‘Maritana,’ and on Thursday the troupe will again sing in Brooklyn.”

Review: New York Herald, 21 September 1869, 3.

“English Opera—French Theatre.—The admirable manner in which English opera is put upon the stage at the French theatre [sic] by Mme. Parepa-Rosa, as regards scenery, orchestra and chorus, is winning its own reward. Last night the ‘Bohemian Girl’ was repeated, with the same effective cast, which won for the performance so complete a success on Friday night, following rapidly after the comparative dullness of Balfe’s later opera, ‘The Puritan’s Daughter.’” Continues to review some of the company’s other performances.
