To take place in the larger hall because of crowding at previous matinees.

“The Mills and Sarasate matinee was one of the most interesting which has taken place in this city in the day time. Afternoon concerts are not generally brilliant; but this was an exception. The house was well filled, and the audience were evidently delighted with all they heard. Mr. Sarasate is fast becoming one of our most popular as he is one of our best violinists. Mr. Mills is so well known that it were a mere waste of words to speak further of him. His artistic position is thoroughly assured.”

Review: New-York Daily Tribune, 18 March 1872, 5.

“Messrs. Mills and Sarasate gave the last of their series on Thursday afternoon at the same place [Steinway Hall], and they, too, attracted a crowded assemblage. Their selections were diversified with a number of popular compositions, and Miss Lasar, Miss Sterling, and Mr. Simpson contributed several songs.”

Review: Dwight's Journal of Music, 04 May 1872, 228.

“The programme was excellent, including [see above]. The success of these matinees has been such as to demonstrate the fact that instrumental music of a high order is beginning to be appreciated here, and I trust that the number of such concerts will multiply to meet the demand.”
