“There was a rehearsal of ‘Hamlet’ at the Academy of Music last night, at which a number of critics and musicians were present. The entire music of the opera was tried, even this imperfect performance, revealing many rare beauties. The opera will be given in six tableaus as at London, closing with the drowning of Ophelia. In the original score another act follows this scene, but it is rarely performed.”
