“Edward Hoffman, the well known pianist, gave one of his grand concerts last evening at Irving Hall, assisted by a host of the most eminent talent of the city. The programme was a very lengthy one, as it could not very well avoid being, in order to give such an array of artists an opportunity of being heard. The variety of choice morceaux and the admirable justice done to the different selections by each performer were sufficient to gratify any lover of music. S. B. Mills, was particularly effective on the new grand piano used on this occasion, which was certainly in point of tone and power an admirable instrument. Miss Maria Braimnerd, [sic] soprano, and Miss Jennie E. Bull, mezzo soprano, rendered several favorite selections in a highly artistic and pleasing mannor [sic], and Mollenhauer’s violin solos were heartily received. Signor Giozza, of the national conservertory [sic], was conductor of the entertainment, and the affair was gratifying both in point of management, execution and attendance.”

“On the same evening Mr. Edward Hoffmann gave a concert at Irving Hall, and Miss Brainerd, Mr. Mills, and others, taking part. The attendance, considering the attractions elsewhere, was quite good.”
