Says the concert was held on Tuesday the 19th, but the Concert in Aid of Poland was held that evening.  “Miss Mina Geary’s ‘Ballad Concert’ took place at Irving Hall, last Tuesday.  Mrs. J.E. Thomas and Messrs. Gustavus Geary, J.R. Thomas, David Small, George Washburne Morgan assisted.  This concert stepped in so far a little out of the common track of similar concerts, as it introduced a player on the ‘Wood and Straw Piano,’ and one on the Guitar.  We wonder why our pianists do no imitate the example of the former, for their performances often make us think that they are done on a ‘Wood and Straw Piano.”
